Counter-Terrorism Awareness Training
We run free counter-terrorism awareness training in partnership with Greater Manchester Police and the North West Counter Terrorism Unit.
Advisable for both management and operations-level staff, Project Griffin is the national awareness initiative for business, produced by NaCTSO to protect our communities from terrorism.
The training guides on the current level of threat, how to prepare and recognise suspicious activity and how to respond if necessary. The workshops discuss a simulated event.
We have trained businesses from commercial, property, hotel, SME and retail sectors. Following the tragic Manchester Arena attack in May 2017, CityCo organised training for 700 people and 205 individual organisations.
The course is open to CityCo and Manchester BID members and runs for 2.5 hours. On successful attendance of the workshop, members are provided with a certification of training.
After two years of partnership work, CityCo’s Operations Team is now also also qualified to deliver accredited training to members in-house. This allows for smaller, bespoke sessions and venue-specific discussion. Larger-scale, sector training will continue to be delivered by the police.
Our first delivery of specialised training took place in October 2017 at the Marriott Victoria and Albert Hotel.
