CityBriefing: Manchester and Salford inner relief route (MSIRR) improvement scheme – Follow up Briefing

Date & Time
Cobden 3, Manchester Central

CityCo and Manchester BID invite members and partners to this follow up meeting by Manchester City Council and Transport for Greater Manchester. There will be an opportunity to discuss how you may have been affected, hear about next steps and timelines, business continuity actions that might be needed and the public communications that are in place. There will be time for questions.

The Manchester Salford Inner Relief Route (MSIRR) is an essential part of the transport infrastructure that serves the regional city centre. This important section of highway helps traffic flow and is also one of the busiest routes into and out of Manchester and Salford.

Improvement works started on 29th August to address congestion and cope with increasing traffic volumes. Works are programmed to last up to 1 year and will improve six junctions:

  1. The junction of Dawson Street, Regent Road, Trinity Way and Water Street
  2. The junction of Regent Road and Ordsall Lane (Salford)
  3. The junction of Regent Road and Oldfield Road (Salford)
  4. The Mancunian Way, A56, A5067 roundabout
  5. The junction of Trinity Way and Hampson Street
  6. The junction of Hampson Street, East Ordsall Lane and Middlewood Street

The communications campaign will inform everyone using the MSIRR about the improvement works and will encourage drivers and other users to
re-time, re-route and re-mode some journeys where possible.
