Manchester F&B Network: Talent, Recruitment & Training

Date & Time
HOME, 2 Tony Wilson Place, M15 4FN

Our Manchester F&B Network brings together city centre food and drink operators at informal consultation and networking events. The meetings allow businesses to connect with each other and city decision makers, and discuss the priorities and concerns of the food and drink sector.

At our January event we will focus on Talent, Recruitment and Training in the industry.

Hospitality is booming in Manchester. From inspirational independents to iconic international brands, the city has seen unprecedented growth and competition across the sector. There has never been greater demand for skilled staff, or more opportunity for hospitality professionals.

It is in many ways a Golden Age for F&B, however evidence also suggests that businesses are facing mounting challenges. There is not only a labour shortage in the region but also a skills shortage. Too few apprentices and students are entering the profession, intense demand on a shrinking labour pool is driving wage inflation and the threat of Brexit looms large for employers reliant on migrant workers.

These concerns are reflected in cities across the UK but they are neither inevitable nor unsolvable. We have brought together a panel of exceptional industry professionals who will give a candid assessment of the current challenges, and take a bold look at how to address them through best practice and collective action.

We’re delighted to welcome guest speakers Jayne Worthington, Managing Director, The Growth Company , Jeremy Roberts, CEO of Living Ventures, Richard Bowker: Sales Executive, Catapult and Stewart Davies, Group Operations Director at GG Hospitality. The event will be chaired by Guardian journalist, industry expert and F&B commentator, Tony Naylor.

Through conversation and consultation we aim to stimulate debate and create positive change. Your input is invaluable and we hope that you can join us.
