Manchester Business Improvement District (BID) offers levy payers a range of Business Services.
We are here to help our networks do better business in Manchester city centre.
Manchester BID brings the right people together to help levy payers find solutions to day-to-day and longer-term urban challenges. The BID helps with operational issues and ensures businesses can maximise the many opportunities of working in the city centre.
We regularly assist with solving environmental issues around premises or locations; street cleansing, jet washing, issues to do with bins and commercial waste; litter and graffiti removal, issues to do with street bollards; tackling anti-social behaviour, begging and rough-sleeping; parking and transport challenges; the impact of major events and property development works; street protests and road closures.
BID Cleaning Programme
Manchester BID runs a city centre cleaning programme in addition to Council activity. This is in support of the BID’s network of levy payers to increase the frequency of street cleaning in the city centre. The aim is to improve the customer welcome and operator experience around Manchester’s main shopping area.
Ramora and Adept Corporate Services have been commissioned by Manchester BID as the service providers.
The cleaning programme is jet washing pavements, alleys, fire exits, entrances and the general streetscape; deep-cleaning areas that need it; steam-cleaning seating areas, benches and bins; foam-cleaning connecting streets and alleyways; removing liquids and other detritus on the streets; removing graffiti and chewing-gum; litter-picking and delivering specific cleaning in response to city centre events.
Manchester BID operates a team of tourist information and welcome guides to add value to levy payers. The City Host ambassadors are out and about around the central retail district, providing help to visitors and acting as a liaison point between the BID team and retailers.
The hosts work seven days a week, 363 days a year. As part of their role, team also reports, and acts on, environmental reporting such as litter, liquids, graffiti and other detritus that needs removal.
BID Public Events
Manchester stages the best events and Manchester BID is part of the picture. The BID supports the city’s civic and public events including Manchester Day, Manchester Jazz Festival, Manchester Pride, Manchester International Festival and the Christmas Markets.
The BID also runs its own events to help attract custom and spend into Manchester city centre.
We are proud to have brought some of the most innovative and PR-grabbing installations to town. Take a look at our Manchester Flower Show, Roof-Top Halloween Monsters, Haunted Maze, Chinese New Year ‘Piglet’, Golden Dragon and Warriors.
Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP)
Manchester BID levy payers can access CityCo’s BCRP to report and tackle business-related crime.
The BCRP supports Greater Manchester Police, City Council Licensing and Anti-Social Behaviour teams and the partnership manages a city-wide ‘Civil Exclusion Scheme’ to record and identify criminal persons.
BCRP members have access to StoreNet/NiteNet radios connected to Manchester city centre CCTV and are provided real-time, secure offender intelligence online.
The team has achieved annual ‘Accreditation with Distinction’ by the National Association of Business Crime Partnerships and received a Divisional Commanders Award from Greater Manchester Police.
