Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP)

CityCo Manchester manages the city’s Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) to report and tackle business-related crime.

We support Greater Manchester Police, Manchester City Council Licensing and Anti-Social Behaviour teams.

The Business Crime Unit team has achieved annual ‘Accreditation with Distinction’ by the National Association of Business Crime Partnerships and received a Divisional Commanders Award from Greater Manchester Police.

Areas the BCRP assists with:

  • A city-wide ‘Civil Exclusion Scheme’ to record criminal incidents, identify persons and share security intelligence
  • Access to StoreNet/NiteNet security radios, connected to Manchester city centre CCTV
  • Real-time, secure, offender intelligence online
  • Bespoke business training on Crime Prevention, Conflict Avoidance, Fraud Prevention, Counterfeit Currency and Making Statements, delivered to retailers and businesses by our in-house team.

Training Testimonials

“The impact of Crime Prevention training has been phenomenal to daily operations. Taking on-board learnings, we have seen a huge increase in the recovery of stock. Staff have grown in confidence in approaching suspects and deterring them from the store. The training has absolutely helped us to reduce crime in store.”

Nicola and the Footlocker Manchester team

“Our staff found the Counterfeit Currency training really engaging. Store managers all commented that it was interactive and informative, and highlighted a lot of areas never considered before. A very useful session.

Leanne Lawlor, Security Manager, Selfridges

“Counterfeit Currency training proved a very effective way of refreshing till staff who have been handling credit card payments for some time. Staff were kept interested, and learned lots of simple tips. The training is also a great reassurance tool for managers.
