Chinese New Year 2018 Celebrations

With a Chinese New Year weekend packed full of food, fortune and fun, welcome in the Year of the Dog in Manchester city centre.

Head to the city’s St Ann’s Square and snap a selfie with the 50ft giant glittering Golden Dragon which will be taking centre stage and sample authentic cuisine at a Chinese Food Market showcasing some of the city’s finest names in food and drink, including the iconic Yang Sing restaurant.

Get crafty at Manchester Arndale which will be running a series of Chinese craft workshops for families in conjunction with the Confucius Institute and Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art and keep an eye out for red envelope giveaways and VIP shopping events at city centre stores throughout the weekend.

On Sunday 18th, Manchester’s legendary Dragon Parade led by by a spectacular 175-foot dragon will weave its way through the city’s streets from Manchester Town Hall to Chinatown, where revellers can enjoy lion dancing, martial arts displays, a funfair, street food stalls and a spectacular fireworks finale at 6pm.
