Travel Advice: Manchester City v Feyenoord

21st November 2017

Manchester City host Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday 21 November at the Etihad. Kick-off is 7.45pm and with around 50,000 fans expected to attend, roads and public transport are expected to be busier than usual.

A Greater Manchester Police guided walk up of Feyenoord fans is due to take place prior to the game. Away fans will gather at Shambles Square before walking up towards the Etihad.

5,000 away fans are expected in the city centre and we are working closely with Greater Manchester Police to ensure the operation works as smoothly as possible.

Transport, including Metrolink, bus and road journeys in the area, is expected to be affected from 4pm onwards. If you can avoid the surrounding area we would strongly advise you to do so. The busiest time to travel will be from 4pm to 7pm.

Additionally, Little Mix are playing at the Manchester Arena on the same night, with the gig beginning at 7.10pm (doors 6pm). This means travelling to the venue will take longer than usual and traffic on roads around the arena will be busier.

If you are travelling to the arena please be aware security checks will be in place upon your arrival.

We strongly advise if you can travel prior to 4pm on this date, do so. Consider retiming your journey and avoiding the affected areas when planning ahead.

Ways to get to the Etihad

Travel by tram, bus and walking is the best way to get to the Etihad.

Greater Manchester’s park and ride map facilities will all be open and provide convenient connections to the Etihad allowing you complete your journey by public transport.

If you cannot avoid driving to the match you can car share and help reduce the overall number of vehicles on the road. Parking is available around the ground at certain locations. You can find out more information regarding parking on the Manchester City website.
