Manchester Heart Safe Scheme: September Audit16th Sep 2021
CityCo runs a ‘Heart Safe Scheme’ in partnership with the North West Ambulance Service to ensure life-saving equipment is located at various sites to allow ease of access in the event of an emergency.
The initiative is increasing the number of defibrillators across the city centre ensuring people are never more than four minutes away (walking distance) from a potentially life-saving device, 24/7.
An automated external defibrillator (AED) delivers an electric pulse through the chest to restore normal heart rhythm. If used within the first four minutes of a cardiac arrest it can give the casualty an 80% chance of survival. Over 200 staff members at the various venues have been trained to operate AED units so far. Contact us to enquire about installing a defib machine.
If you already have a defib, please register it with North West Ambulance Service in order to notify the ambulance service that it can be used in an emergency.
If you are a CityCo or Manchester BID Member, and have have any concerns you would like to raise with CityCo’s Operations team direct, especially if urgent, please call 07917 058 412.
