To support the 2023 event, we delivered a series of promotional activities:
Hotel Lobby Gigs: Thursday 12th October
Visitors and tourists to the city enjoyed free music sets at a series of morning performances in hotel lobbies across the city centre. Titled ‘Dawn Chorus’, a series of intimate classical performances took place in the foyers of six Manchester hotels.
Hotel visitors waking up at the Hyatt Regency, The Midland, Moxy, Yotel, Leonardo Hotel Manchester Central and Kimpton Clocktower were treated to very special shows performed by students from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).
Pop-up Live Stage: Friday 13th October
Bringing Beyond The Music beyond its main hub, visitors and tourists also enjoyed live music in Exchange Square. Featuring seven performances, the line-up celebrated Manchester as a classical music city – home to three professional orchestras including The Halle and BBC Philharmonic.
The classical music programme sat alongside traditional rock and electronic music acts at the festival.
The outdoor gig was curated by The Untold Orchestra which aims to redefine orchestral music for audiences and communities in Manchester through memorable performances, creative workshops, and refreshing collaborations.

The Manchester Music Map
To support the above, a new culture map was commissioned to celebrate the city’s iconic gig venues and musical heritage.
The Manchester Music Map takes in well-known tales that people might be not-so-familiar with, and importantly shines a light on current music scenes. With no ‘end-date’, the stories can be enjoyed by tourists at any time to come.
