CITY CENTRE BUSINESSES: Please be aware of upcoming travel improvement works around #Deansgate which will impact road and pavement networks from Monday 5th August.
Manchester City Council will be starting works around Deansgate and Whitworth Street West next month. The aim is to link walking and cycling routes together [including a continuous cycleway from Chorlton], better-connect city centre rail and tram stations, reduce the amount of traffic entering the city centre, and expand the area where pedestrians have priority.
Construction will start on 5th August. All traffic will be restricted to a southbound direction only between junctions of Quay Street/Peter Street and Liverpool Road/Great Bridgewater Street. There will still be access for cyclists in both directions.
Work is expected to last until spring 2025.
The long-term vision for Deansgate is for it to be a great place to visit and work, and a green, healthy, and safe area.
