Manchester’s retail Business Improvement District
Manchester’s city centre retail community has come together to form a Business Improvement District – the Heart of Manchester BID. The BID launched in April 2013, and for a period of 5 years will focus on delivering customer service and promotional initiatives that aim to improve the attractiveness of the city and encourage more spending visitors.
The BID is a specific geographical area encompassing over 380 city centre retailers. The remit of the Business Plan was determined during an 18 month consultation period. The BID is financed by a levy made on the basis of rateable value, and it was agreed to launch following a successful legal ballot.
Retailers have collectively helped to make Manchester a vibrant and successful place and now are working more closely together towards a common goal: to make the heart of Manchester the most successful regional destination in Britain.
The Heart of Manchester BID is an independent, not-for-profit, limited-by-guarantee company, governed by a Board responsible to levy payers.
CityCo, Manchester’s city centre management company, manages and delivers the work of the BID on behalf of the Board.
