What’s happening
On Monday 14 May, Manchester City will celebrate being crowned champions of the Premier League with an open top bus victory parade through the city centre.
Deansgate will be closed to all traffic, between Quay St and Great Bridgewater St from 7am Sunday 13 May to facilitate the building of the presentation stage, with the remaining closures taking place on the day. The majority of these road closures will start from approximately 5pm, however it is expected that roads will be busier than usual as spectators travel into the city centre and commuters leave earlier to avoid the parade.
The parade will begin at Victoria Street at 6.15pm before making its way through the city centre before finishing on Deansgate, close to the junction of Peter Street, at approximately 7pm.
Those roads that remain open are expected to be busier than normal with bus services expected to experience significant delays.
Bus services into the city centre will be diverted from 3.00pm until roads reopen.
Metrolink services between East Didsbury and Rochdale Town Centre will be diverted via Market Street and Shudehill from 5.30pm until the end of service, no services will serve Exchange Square during this time.
Both rail and tram services are likewise expected to be busier than usual as commuter’s change onto these services and event spectators make their way to and from the event.

General travel advice
- Expect all public transport and roads to be busier than usual on the day of the parade, with the potential for journey times to be longer
- Plan ahead and allow more time for your journey.

The full route is: Victoria Street, Deansgate, John Dalton Street, Albert Square, Mount Street, and Peter Street on to Deansgate.

The majority of these closures will start from approximately 5pm, however it is expected that roads will be busier than usual as spectators travel into the city centre and commuters leave earlier to avoid the parade.
Roads do not reopen until approximately 8pm; it is expected that the evening peak will be disrupted and extended in duration.
Tram and Train
Metrolink services between East Didsbury and Rochdale Town Centre will be diverted via Market Street and Shudehill from 5.30pm until the end of service, no services will serve Exchange Square during this time.

What TfGM is doing to make travel easier
- Working with Metrolink to add extra capacity where it can at peak periods on the busiest lines.
- Ensuring there are additional staff on Metrolink and at key interchanges to support customers.
- Enhanced monitoring at its network control centre so traffic flows can be optimised by altering signal timings
- Working with local highway authorities to temporarily suspend roadworks where possible on the region’s main commuter routes
