CityCo, City Centre BID and Accommodation BID support Manchester’s ‘alternative giving’ homelessness charity Real Change MCR.
Real Change is a collaboration between people with lived experience of homelessness, volunteers, MMU, Manchester City Council, The Booth Centre, Game FM and CityCo.
We know from people with lived experience and practitioners, that street giving doesn’t help people long term. Real Change MCR asks people and organisations to consider giving to a fund that will pay for accommodation long term. The streets of Manchester are very generous, but also can be very dangerous for the most vulnerable.
Cash raised helps to pay for practical items that people may need when building a new life away from the streets e.g. rent, a deposit, new furniture, a bus pass, a train ticket.
The campaign has much support from many businesses across CityCo, City Centre BID and ABID networks. There are many ways to support, to meet ESG aims and fulfil staff volunteering opportunities.
