Manchester Women’s Night-time Safety Charter

Support the Manchester Women’s Night-time Safety Charter.

The Manchester Women’s Night-time Safety Charter – led by Manchester City Council and supported by CityCo – helps organisations put the safety of women at the heart of Manchester’s vibrant night-time economy.

By joining the Charter, your business shows its commitment to a zero-tolerance approach to harassment and to creating safer spaces for everyone.

Although the Charter focuses on the night-time economy, its principles benefit the city’s entire 24-hour economy – supporting everyone who works in, visits, and enjoys Manchester after dark.

Working Together for a Safer Night-time Economy

Manchester’s night-time economy is uniting to help venues tackle key safety challenges including women’s safety, drink spiking, and the prevention of sexual assault.

Businesses are encouraged to use Manchester’s risk assessment tool, which offers practical guidance on how to reduce risks and clear advice on what to do if an incident occurs at a venue.

Training to Build Confidence and Create Safer Spaces

As part of the scheme, specialist training is provided to help those working in the night-time economy develop their skills, knowledge, and confidence.

The sessions focus on recognising signs of vulnerability, making safe and appropriate interventions, and creating a safer environment for workers, visitors, and customers alike.
