Manchester City Centre: This Weekend

CityCo is The City Centre Management Company. We run Manchester City Centre BID and are delivery partners for Manchester Accommodation BID. We work in partnership with Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council.

We aim to ensure businesses are informed of relevant ad verified intelligence regarding major events and protests in the city centre.

This Weekend

This weekend there are a number of high-profile protests taking place in the city centre that will see signifcant visible support from Greater Manchester Police to help facilitiate orderly and peaceful activities.

With these protests, closure of Piccadilly Station and various major events in the city over Half-Term, travel disruption and congestion is expected. Please plan ahead accordingly.

Piccadilly Rail Works: This Weekend and later in March

Network Rail is investing £7.9 million in upgrades to the track and signalling systems on the southern approach to Piccadilly Station. The works continue to take place this weekend and will continue on Sunday 1st March and Sunday 22nd March.

  • There will be no services into or out of Piccadilly Station platforms 1–12
  • The station concourse will remain open
  • A limited westbound service will operate from platforms 13 and 14

Metrolink Works

Bury Line Works: Sunday 8th March

Track repair works will take place on the Bury line. For the duration of the day, no trams will operate between Whitefield and Bury. A bus replacement service will operate between the affected stops. Find out more

Victoria pre-10am Works: Sunday 29th March

From the start of service until 10am, no trams will operate through Victoria to facilitate track repair works. A bus replacement service will operate between Victoria – Piccadilly until 11am. Find out more
