To support the event, we are delivering a series of promotional activities:

Hotel Lobby Gigs: Thursday 12th October

Visitors and tourists to the city can enjoy free music sets at a series of morning performances in hotel lobbies across the city centre. Titled ‘Dawn Chorus’, a series of intimate classical performances will take place in the foyers of six Manchester hotels close to the conference.

Hotel visitors waking up at the Hyatt Regency, The Midland, Moxy, Yotel, Leonardo Hotel Manchester Central and Kimpton Clocktower will be treated to a series of very special shows performed by students from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).

*Performances will take place between 8-10am at Hyatt Regency and The Midland and 9-11am at all other venues.*

Pop-up Live Stage: Friday 13th October

Bringing Beyond The Music beyond its main hub, visitors and tourists can also enjoy live music in Exchange Square. Featuring seven performances, the line-up celebrates Manchester as a classical music city: home to three professional orchestras including The Halle and BBC Philharmonic.

The classical music programme will sit alongside the traditional rock and electronic music acts at the festival and will promote Manchester’s musical diversity.

The outdoor gig is programmed by Sam Davies from collaborative ensemble, The Untold Orchestra, which aims to redefine orchestral music for audiences and communities in Manchester through memorable performances, creative workshops, and refreshing collaborations.

Line-up:

12pm Indie Pop Trio, Big Society
1pm Solo loop cello, Polly Virr
2pm R&B Duo, Mali Hayes
3pm Five poets performing spoken word, Esther Koch, Funmi Adeyo, Jack Coverdale & Reneé Stormz
4pm Electronic pop & soul vocalist, Ellen Beth Abdi
5pm Vocalist, guitar and drums playing electronic pop & soul, Yemi Bolatiwa
6.15pm The Untold Orchestra – a seven piece band playing well known hits, featuring Jenna G and Will Jacquet

*Performances will be approximately 40 mins long.*

The Manchester Music Map

To support all of the above, a new Manchester Music Map has been commissioned to celebrate the city’s iconic gig venues and musical heritage. It takes in well-known stories, tales that people might be not-so-familiar with, and importantly shines a light on current music scenes.
