Manchester Pride

22nd Aug 2019

Retailers across Manchester city centre have stepped up their support of Manchester Pride with a range of fundraising activities, special events, window dressings, free gifts, complimentary makeovers and more as the city gears up to host the internationally-renowned four day festival this weekend.

Manchester streets are proudly displaying rainbow banners and stores across the city centre are bringing colour and vibrancy to the retail district with Pride-inspired window dressings and decorations.

King Street retailers will be selling beautiful #BeeProud charity pins to fundraise for Manchester Pride and giving away limited-edition Pride tote bags, alongside lots of live music, food and drink during the weekend.

Retailers supporting Manchester Pride this year include Marks and Spencer, Barclays and Costa Coffee, who will be appearing in the parade on Saturday, with retailers including McDonalds, Paperchase, Wilko, Kiko Milano, B Works, Lloyds, Skipton Building Society, Barburitto, Supercuts, Vision Express and Virgin Money all fundraising in-store for Manchester Pride throughout the weekend.

Harvey Nichols is adding a £1 donation to every bill at its Second Floor Bar & Brasserie throughout the weekend, with the store matching the total amount raised, while Selfridges Exchange Square is offering complimentary makeovers for customers attending Manchester Pride.

City centre restaurants including Tast, Flight Club, Sam’s Chophouse, Mrs Sarah’s Chophouse and Albert Square Chophouse are also ramping up their activity by creating one-off Manchester Pride cocktails and desserts which will see a donation to Manchester Pride for each dish or cocktail ordered.

Jane Sharrocks, Manchester BID Chair and General Manager at Selfridges Exchange Square said: “It’s fantastic to see retailers and restaurants across the city centre really stepping up their support of Manchester Pride. Manchester BID has worked with retailers across the city this year to coordinate and maximise their participation through fundraising for local Pride charities, Pride-inspired window dressings and lots of events throughout the weekend and we’re looking forward to raising as much money collectively as possible.”
